Another school year draws to a close and whilst we have not seen the back of Covid, the year has been slightly less challenging in that respect.
Our Year 11 leavers sat their terminal exams, the first year group to sit exams since 2019, and we eagerly await their results with them on Thursday 25 August. This summer also saw the return of the Prom which was a very successful evening held at the Botley Park Hotel. Details have already been shared with Year 10 on ‘how to get a Prom invite’.
Some staff are moving on to pastures new and we said goodbye to Ms Hubert last week, we will be welcoming back Ms Holden. Miss Mckay is leaving us after over 15 years at the college, we wish her well in her new endeavour. We look forwarding to welcoming Miss Heaver, Miss Williams and Miss Cox to the Humanities team. Mrs Mead is moving to a brand new school closer to home and we will also be saying goodbye to Miss Stares and Mrs Seyfi. As a growing school, we will be welcoming Miss Milligan in Science, Mrs White in Computing/Business Studies, Mrs Owenson in Product Design, Miss Fry in English and Mr Carroll as an Assistant Principal with responsibility for Behaviour/ Safeguarding and teaching PE. Joining the admin/welfare team are Mrs Giles, Mrs Steel and Mrs Beynon and we are advertising for a Site Assistant and an Exams & Assessment Manager (see website for full details) as Mrs Whitaker is leaving at the end of term. We wish them all well and thank them for their service at the college.
Plans are being finalised for the start of term which sees Year 7s and 11s in college on Friday 2 September from 10:00am with all years returning on Monday 5 September – full details to follow. College closes for the summer holiday on Thursday 21 July at 12:05pm with buses organised for 12:15pm.
Please ensure that your children stay safe through the summer holidays particularly around water if the heatwave continues (useful link - https://rnli.org/safety/float).
Have a safe and enjoyable break.
