Understanding the Measures
Grade 4+ and Grade 5+
These measures show the percentage of students achieving a standard pass (Grade 4+) or a strong pass (Grade 5+) in English and Mathematics GCSEs.
Attainment 8
Attainment 8 measures the average achievement of students across a range of GCSE and approved qualifications, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Languages and other approved subjects.
Progress 8
Progress 8 measures the progress students make from the end of primary school to the end of Key Stage 4 compared with students nationally who had similar starting points.
English Baccalaureate (EBacc)
The EBacc recognises achievement across a suite of academic subjects including:
- English
- Mathematics
- Science
- History or Geography
- A Modern Foreign Language
