House System
The House System is an important part of life at The Henry Cort Community College and helps to create a strong sense of community, belonging and friendly competition.
Every student is allocated to one of our four houses when they join the college and remains a member of that house throughout their time with us.
Our houses are:
🔴 Daring
🟢 Invincible
🟡 Triumph
🟣 Victorious
Students proudly represent their house through the colour of their tie and have opportunities to earn points, take part in competitions and contribute to house success throughout the year.
House Life at Henry Cort
The House System encourages students to:
- Build friendships across different year groups.
- Develop teamwork and leadership skills.
- Participate in a wide range of activities and events.
- Demonstrate our ASPIRE values in everyday college life.
- Contribute positively to the wider college community.
House points can be earned through achievement, effort, attendance, participation and contribution to college life.
House Competitions and Events
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to represent their house in a range of events and challenges, which may include:
- Sports competitions
- Academic challenges
- Creative and performing arts events
- Charity fundraising activities
- Attendance and achievement competitions
- Whole-college events and celebrations
These experiences help to foster healthy competition while encouraging students to work together towards a common goal.
Student Leadership
The House System provides students with valuable opportunities to develop leadership skills, take responsibility and make a positive contribution to college life.
There are student leadership opportunities throughout all five years at Henry Cort. Students can represent their tutor group, support and lead House activities, and take on leadership roles within different subject areas across the curriculum.
As students progress through the college, they are encouraged to develop their confidence, communication and teamwork skills by becoming role models for others and contributing to the wider college community.
In Year 11, students have the opportunity to apply to become part of the Student Leadership Team or one of our Head Students. Our student leadership team plays an active role in the life of the college, supporting events, representing the student voice and contributing to the continued development of Henry Cort.
Through these opportunities, students develop important skills that prepare them for future education, employment and leadership roles beyond the college.
Celebrating Success
House points are collected throughout the year, with achievements recognised and celebrated regularly. Students work together to help their house climb the leaderboard and compete for house honours and rewards.
The House System plays an important role in bringing our college community together and ensuring that every student feels a sense of identity, belonging and pride during their time at Henry Cort.
