Henry Cort is one of only three schools to pilot the Public Health and HC3S Healthy Eating Project and we are the first school to try new recipes

Secondary teams from HC3S will be working with Public Health to improve the access to and uptake of healthier choices in three secondary schools in Hampshire during the second half of the autumn term.

Their objectives are to:

  • Achieve a reduction in sugary drinks/foods sold in targeted schools.
  • Increase in the offer and uptake of healthier food and drinks choices.
  • Offer healthy eating training/briefing to c­atering staff.
  • The three secondary schools to have been awarded the Eat Out Eat Well award by the end of March 2018.

This will be done by:

  • Ensuring catering staff in each school have the knowledge to promote healthier eating choices to students.
  • Taster sessions with students using Snap survey to gain feed back on their views about healthier eating options.
  • Promote the healthier eating options and nudge students towards choosing the healthier eating options.

The food trials will start from Wednesday 29 November with approximately 12 students who will taste and complete a short survey with their feedback:

  • Wednesday 29 November - Chicken fajitas and Enchilada pie. 
  • Wednesday 6 December - Two cold snacks, chicken layered salad and Moroccan couscous with beef/chicken. 
  • Wednesday 13 December - Sugar free drinks, beetroot brownie and apple/sultana rock cakes.
