Growing Together Project
The aim of the project is to improve the environment in and around college grounds, and promote inter-generation relations with our students also tending gardens at the Age Concern Hampshire Kershaw Day Care Centre in Wynton Way.
The college’s Environment Heroes, working alongside a member of our site team help maintain college grounds doing litter picking and planting. An area around our pond has been targeted by the students for turning into a wildlife meadow.
Across the street from the college the Kershaw Day Care Centre offers local older people the opportunity to socialise, take part in a variety of activities and enjoy a meal with friends. The Centre has a garden for members to enjoy but they need assistance with maintenance and developing the area, including creating a patch of land for an allotment to grow fresh produce for their kitchen.
The Growing Together project will offer different age groups a rare opportunity to share skills and work together, giving students out of the classroom life skills, while benefitting local older people.
