Aims of the music department – Instrumental lessons
We hope to provide your child with the chance to enjoy participating in making music. This will be done by providing well qualified, motivated teachers, lessons during the college day, opportunities to practice their instruments, opportunities to play their instruments in a group, opportunities to perform (in lessons, assemblies and concerts)

Learning an instrument is a partnership which involves your child, yourself and the college.
Children should…
- Attend all lessons
- Attend ensemble practices
- Come fully prepared for lessons
- Practise
- Catch up missed classwork
Parents, please…
- Listen to children playing/practising
- Encourage practice by allowing space and time
- Pay termly fees when requested
- Insure instruments
- Provide one terms’ notice of stopping lessons
College will…
- Provide regular weekly lessons of 20 minutes minimum
- Provide opportunity to rehearse weekly with an ensemble
- Provide facilities for practice during and after the college day
- Inform parents of 3 lessons missed in a term
- Annual progress report
